Obituary for Donald L. Snyder
HANNAWA FALLS – Mr. Donald L. Snyder, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on March 10, 2019, the same home in which he was born and raised.
Donald was born June 13, 1927 in Hannawa Falls, the son of the late Llewelyn and Rose (Halford) Snyder. On May 19, 1962, he married Eleanor C. Peary. They live happily married for 57 years.
Donald worked for many years as a foreman for Ironworkers Local #440. He was best known for his loving smile and ability to light up a room. He touched the heart of everyone he met and was truly unforgettable. After retirement, Donald would spend his time making homemade wine, tending to his garden, feeding the birds, making canned goods and spending time with his loved ones. Donald was fortunate enough to have the ability to reflect on his life and reminisce on the good times he had with all the wonderful people he encountered. Donald will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He leaves his loved ones with many wonderful memories and will be dearly missed.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor; his children, Bridgette and Dan Manor; Donald Jr. and Brenda Snyder; Sarah and Don Phillips; Melissa Carey; and Emily and Eric Burkum; his beloved cat, Reggie; his grandchildren, Erin Manor, Daniel Manor Jr, Michael Manor, Elizabeth and Doug Colbert, Chelsea Snyder, Charlotte Phippen, Wade and Brooke Carey, Christine Phippen, Curtis Snyder, Lillian Phippen, Rachel Carey, Martha Phippen, Molly Pickering, and Nevaeh Phillips; his great grandchildren, Olivia Manor, Daniel Manor III, Delia Manor, Sophia Manor, Harrison Manor, Wade Carey, Jr. Josephine Sevick, Lincoln Young, Riley Carey, and Silas Colbert.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth, Verda, and Charles “Spike” Snyder and his sisters, Eva Snyder and Charlotte “Tootie” Snyder Castleman.
As per his wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be held privately by his family in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Colton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Potsdam Animal Shelter.
