AKWESASNE – Ms. Norma Anna “Teriwane” Lazore, 73, of Cornwall Island, passed away Saturday evening, September 3, 2016 at Tsiionkwanonhso:te, where she had been a resident in recent years.

Norma was born April 6, 1943 on Cornwall Island, the daughter of the late Angus and Mary Ann Jacobs Lazore and attended schools there also. She worked for many years at the Chrysler Plant in Syracuse before returning back to Akwesasne. Norma was a member of the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group and enjoyed traveling, fishing and collecting Snoopy memorabilia.

Norma is survived by her sisters, Evelyn David of Akwesasne; Veronica Marie Henry of Buffalo; and Gloria Lazore of Akwesasne; an aunt, Susan Jackson of Racquette Point, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant sister, Loretta Mae Lazore.

Friends may call at the home of her sister, Gloria, 1339 Island Road, Akwesasne beginning 9 PM Tuesday until 11:30 AM Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 1:00 PM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Akwesasne.
