MASSENA – Mr. Ronnie Charles Miner, 66, of 215 Barnhart Road, unexpectedly passed away early Wednesday morning, January 11, 2017 in the emergency room at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Ronnie was born August 22, 1950 in Massena, the son of the late Charles and Constance “Connie” Stevens Miner and was a graduate of Massena High School. On November 18, 1969, he entered the US Navy honorably serving his country until his discharge on September 17, 1971. On November 18, 1972, he married Mary A. Ruff at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. John L. Downs, officiating.
Ronnie worked for Kimberly-Clark in New Milford, Connecticut for 23 years before moving back to Massena. After returning, he worked for St. Mary’s Church in Massena as the janitor and later in the produce department at P&C Foods until his retirement. He was a life member of the VFW and enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, motorcycling, and horseback riding. Ronnie also enjoyed going to the New York State Fair, watching deer on Barnhart Island, and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Chuck and Nicole Miner of Winthrop; and Yvonne Newcombe and her companion, Eric Aldridge of Massena; his grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Hunter, Carlee, Gunner, Alyssa, Rita, Kaitlyn, Sydney, Camryn, Jordyn, and Ryder; his sister, Charleen and Steve Hutchins of Helena, a niece and a nephew.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie is predeceased by infant twin daughters, Karen and Karann and an infant sister, Yvonne Miner.
As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Massena with military honors.
