Obituary for Rhoda R. Baldwin

MASSENA – Ms. Rhoda R. Baldwin, 94, formerly of Laurel Terrace, peacefully passed away early Tuesday morning, January 24, 2017 at the St. Regis Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since December 2014.

Rhoda was born August 20, 1922 in Fort Jackson, the daughter of the late Frank and Mable Trombley Baldwin. She attended schools in Hopkinton and graduated from Parishville High School in 1940. Rhoda in private duty home care, owned and operated a Christian book store in Massena, and delivered newspapers for many years. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active with missionary work throughout the years. She enjoyed gardening and making and selling crafts, giving much of her proceeds to her church missions.

Rhoda is survived by her sister, Goldie LaBar of Hopkinton and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Irene Baldwin and Beulah Planty and her brothers, Reginald C. and Merrill N. Baldwin.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 7:00 PM at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Colin Lucid, officiating. A calling hour will begin at 6:00 PM. Burial will be in the Hopkinton-Fort Jackson Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Calvary Baptist Church Mission Fund.
