Obituary for Alice M. Smith (Harwood)

ALICE M. SMITH

MASSENA- Alice M. Smith, 69, formerly of McGinnis Road, Waddington, peacefully passed away Friday night, December 1, 2017, at the Highland Nursing Home, with her loving family at her side.

Alice was born October 2, 1948 in Massena, daughter of Mable E. Sanderson Harwood and the late James H. Harwood. She was a 1966 graduate of Madrid-Wadding High School, and on September 23, 1967 she married Lawrence P. Smith.

Alice was a homemaker who took great pride in her home and raising her family. She enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, puzzles, word searches and playing Bingo. She liked to watch TV, chat with her friends, and travel with her family. Alice also loved hockey, especially watching her grandsons play, as she treasured her time with her family the most.

Besides her mother Mable, Alice is survived by her daughter, Kim Moffitt and her companion Stephen Mundy of Massena; her son Patrick and Jacenta Smith of Gilbert, AZ; three grandsons, Nick, Ryan and Nathan Moffitt, all of Massena; her brother Lloyd and Millie Harwood of China Grove, NC; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Alice was predeceased by two daughters, Tamara Lynn and Nicole Marie Smith on August 25, 1972.

Memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s memory to the Massena Humane Society or the Potsdam Humane Society.

Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home Monday, 3-5:00 PM, where a funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
