Obituary for Eleanor Sargent Raymo

MASSENA – Mrs. Eleanor Sargent Raymo, 95, suddenly passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena.

Eleanor was born in Burke, the daughter of Vera and Walter Sargent. She attended local rural schools, graduating from Franklin Academy in Malone in 1941. On September 30, 1949, she married Martin A. “Buff” Raymo. After their marriage, they moved to Massena, where they made their home. He predeceased her on March 22, 1974.

Before moving to Massena, she worked for many years at Knowlton’s Jewelry Store in Malone. After moving Massena, she worked for several years at Levine’s Clothing Store. She later moved to Marine Midland Bank, where she stayed for 26 years, eventually managing the East Orvis Street Branch. She was an active member of the business community, the Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce and also enjoyed many years of bowling and golf with friends.

Eleanor is survived by her step-daughter and her husband, Mary Ellen and Gregory Shriver of Rochester; her grandchildren, Russell and Eva Keys, Sue Ellen and Mark Pickell, and Holly and Gene Mayotte; and her dear friend, Janice Archambault of Massena.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a dear friend, Emile Archambault.

Friends may call Wednesday 11:00 - 1:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Judy VanKennan, officiating. Burial will be held privately in Burke Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
