Obituary for Sally A Yeddo (Boyer)

Sally A  Yeddo (Boyer)
MASSENA – Mrs. Sally A. (Boyer) Yeddo, 79, of 15 North Allen Street, passed away early Friday morning at her home.

Sally was born March 16, 1938 in Massena, the daughter of the late Ivan and Elizabeth (Wickwire) Boyer. She was a graduate of Massena Central School and earned her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development from Canton ATC. She continued her education at SUNY Plattsburgh, where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education and Special Education. Sally later graduated from SUNY Potsdam with her M.S. Degree in Elementary Education. On November 24, 1956, she married Everett Yeddo, Sr. at St. Joseph’s Church in Massena. He predeceased her on February 20, 2002.

Sally was a devoted wife, mother, and special educator, having taught from 1980 until 2000 for St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES at Kennedy Elementary School in Ogdensburg. She was a longtime and awarded affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America; throughout the years, she was a Den Mother, Trainer, Neighborhood Commissioner, and Explorer Advisor and was awarded with the honors of the Canadian Wood Badge and Silver Fawn, which has only been given to three recipients. When she retired, she was given the Golden Apple Award. She also worked as the archivist at the Town of Massena Museum from ten years, and was currently serving on the Board of Directors for the museum. Sally was also a member of the St. Lawrence-Lewis Retired Teachers, serving as the treasurer for 23 years. In addition, Sally was a member of the St. Lawrence Country Chapter of New York State Professional Women, also serving as their President, Vice President, and Secretary at one time. Sally was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served in the Mission Committee.

Sally is survived by her three sons, Everette Jr. and Deb Yeddo of Massena; Theodore Robert and Paula Yeddo of Florida; and Sammy Lee Yeddo of Massena; her brother, Wayne and Sandy Boyer of Massena; her sisters, Mary Jane Mowers and Betty and David Page, all of Massena; her grandchildren, Teri and Chris Maynard of Texas; Teddy Yeddo, II of Waddington: Becky Yeddo of Massena; Dewayne and Bethany Yeddo of Massena; Robert and Casey Yeddo of North Carolina; and Derek and Shania Yeddo of Malone; two step-granddaughters, Stacy and Tiffany Daley; and her great grandchildren, Austin, David, Landon, Dakota, Kayla, Zoe, Kia, Desray, Autumn, Ruth, and Landon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sally was predeceased by two sons, Henry Joseph and Robert Allen and a daughter, Kim Marie.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at 6:30 PM on January 10th at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Colin Lucid, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Sand Hill Cemetery, Dickinson.
