MARATHON, NY- Eric Wayne Collins, 40, of 8 Mara Lane, peacefully passed away on Wednesday evening, January 10, 2017 at his home.
Eric was born September 18, 1977 in Potsdam, son of Wayne Royal and Ann Marie Taylor Collins. He was a graduate of Parishville-Hopkinton Central School, and earned an Associate’s Degree from SUNY Canton. He proudly served in the US Army Reserves from January 10, 1995 until his honorable discharge in January 9, 2003.
Eric was a member of the Elks Lodge in Cortland, a lifetime member of the NRA, and had a lifetime sportsman license membership. He was a Police Lieutenant for the State University of NY at Morrisville until becoming ill.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt, four-wheel, and enjoy his cabin in Tug Hill. He was a gun collector, and loved the car races in the Pocono’s, mud bogging and snowmobile races. Eric just loved to be outside having fun. He enjoyed traveling to Alaska and the Western states to Washington, which were some of his most enjoyable moments.
Eric is survived by his wife, Amanda (Sellevold) Collins; his daughter, Sella Collins, of Marathon; his mother and stepfather Ann Marie and Robert Vuotto of Lexington, KY; his sister, Tracy Collins and her girlfriend, Brenda LaShomb of Marathon; and two brothers, Nathan Collins of Parishville; and Conner Vuotto of Lexington, KY.
He was predeceased by his father Wayne on June 30, 2014.
Friends may call at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, 4 Cedar Street, Potsdam on Sunday 2-5:00 PM where a funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM with Pastor Lee Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Hillcrest Cemetery, Parishville.
