SHERWIN JAY SEYMOUR

AKWESASNE – Mr. Sherwin Jay Seymour, 59, of 15 Seymour Road, Cornwall Island, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, May 21, 2018 at Cornwall Community Hospital.

Sherwin was born February 24, 1959 in Massena, the son of Thomas and Louise (Bero) Seymour. He attended Salmon River Central School, where he played football and lacrosse. On September 6, 1986, he married Ruth B. Thompson at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Egan, officiating.

At the age of 17, Sherwin started working iron, where he continued for many years working throughout the East Coast and Canada. Most recently, he was working on the Ganienkeh Territory. He was an avid golfer and could frequently be found at Cedar View, he also enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds, gardening, chopping wood, hiking and swimming. He truly cherished the time he was able to spend watching sports – especially when his children and grandchildren were playing. He will fondly be remembered for being able to tell a good story.

In addition to his parents, Sherwin was predeceased by his siblings, Randy, Ivan, and Cynthia Seymour.

Friends may call at his home on Wednesday starting at 2:00 PM until 12:30 PM Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday 2:00 PM at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, celebrating.
